Little Black Dress

This evening, there was a FREE  seminar presented by FIDM Mueum & Galleries!

The panelist came to speak in conjunction with the Little Black Dress: An Homage to Breakfast at Tiffany’s gallery at FIDM’s Muesum.

Panelist included:

-Julie Weiss, Costume Designer nominated for 2 Academy Awards winner of multiple Emmy award
-Laura Goldsmith, Costume Designer for ABC’s Alias
-Arianne Phillips, Costume Designer & Oscar winner for Walk the Line, and Madonna’s stylist
-Moderator: Mary Rose, President of Costume Designers Guild
*It was an interesting talk on what the “Little Black Dress” represents.

They opened the museum for us after the Panel. Sadly I couldn’t take pictures in the gallery, but I took pictures at the museum shop.

It was amazing to see many different variations of the “Little Black Dress”, from Audrey Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s memorable black dress, to that one dress that Jamie Lee wore in True Lies… Also they had fashion illustrations posted on the wall which were “OMG!” status. Lots of them had the “element of surprise” for the back detail of the dress.

I’m going to see if I can find some of the pix online of the gallery.

If you go to FIDM and haven’t seen the gallery, or even knew we had a museum, CHECK IT OUT!

(*updated 7/20)

I found pictures of what’s in the gallery for those people who aren’t in LA.

Different variations of the LBD (FYI, middle dress is the dress that Audrey Hepburn worn in Breakfast at Tiffany's)
